SWIU at the AUA Sections

The goal of this task force is to increase the presence of SWIU at the AUA Sections and connect more women urologists to SWIU during annual sectional meetings. SWIU would ideally identify core ambassadors to serve as leads to liaise with AUA Section leadership, professional society management, and Section meeting chairs to ensure AUA Sections are supporting women urologists.

SWIU events, in collaboration with Boston Scientific, were held during Spring 2023 at the Southeastern Section and New York Section. Looks for similar events at the other 6 Sections later in 2023.

This task force also matched physician volunteers with medical students applying for urology residency to review and provide input of their personal statements.

This task force continued work from 2021-2022 including updating the SWIU Modern Guide to Reviewing Urology Residency Applications and matching physician volunteers with medical students applying for urology residency to review and provide input of their personal statements.

This task force continued its efforts undertaken in 2021 with the development of an industry 101 “how to” toolkit. The task force is developing virtual programing to increase the knowledge of women urologists about industry opportunity or process and creating a database of members interested in working with Industry.
