Are you looking for an opportunity to become more involved with the AUA? Are you an aspiring leader in the field of urology? Have you wondered what goes on "behind the scenes" of the AUA and how your association conducts its business to serve you and the needs of urologists around the world every day?
If you answered "yes" to the above and are one to 15 years out of training (including fellowship immediately following residency) and board certified, you are a prime candidate to apply for the 2017 – 2018 AUA Leadership.
The deadline for applications is December 31, 2017.

Hadley M. Wood, MD, FACS Wins YFA Advocacy and Issues Workgroup Essay Contest

The Young Fellows Association of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) offers an annual essay contest, which helps encourage and support a young Fellow’s attendance at the annual ACS Leadership & Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC. The theme of this year’s competition was Patient Advocacy, and the winning essay, by Hadley M. Wood, MD, FACS, beautifully captions the vision of patient-centered surgical care set forth by 2016 – 2017 ACS President, Courtney M. Townsend, Jr., MD, FACS.

Jean L. Fourcroy, Founding Member of SWIU, 1930 – 2016

On October 12, 2016, Dr. Jean L. Fourcroy died peacefully in the warm environment of a dementia care facility in Sykesville, Maryland, where she had spent the last year well cared for and visited almost daily by her husband. The SWIU board has received this remembrance of Dr. Fourcroy from her family which details her incredible career and life, and we wish to share it with our membership. A Memorial Service was held at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC on January 28, 2017.
