The SWIU-Intuitive Robotic Research Scholarship provides $50,000 to a SWIU member during her fellowship. The scholarship is intended to support the development of outstanding women research scientists in the area of robotics research who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the understanding, treatment, and experience of urology using robotics. Investigators must be working in a research environment capable of supporting robotic research.

Candidates

Appropriate candidates must be a SWIU member. At the time of the award, the applicant should be in their final 1-2 years of completing a urologic residency training program in the United States or Canada with solidified plans for further fellowship training that include robotic experience or in a fellowship program in the United States with plans for robotic experience and further dedicated research time during that training, and/or extending into their first years post fellowship graduation as junior faculty.

Criteria

Applications will be judged on the quality of the applicant’s research plan and the resources and environment available to the applicant. This includes the ability of the primary mentor and relevant division/department to provide appropriate guidance and protected time during the award period. Selections are made by the Scholarship Committee and are subject to the final approval of the SWIU Board of Directors. The SWIU-Intuitive Robotic Research Scholarship operates without discrimination as to age, race, religion, sex, handicap or national origin in the selection of award recipients.

Dates

  • Application Deadline: Friday, March 15, 2020
  • Late applications will not be reviewed
  • Recipient will be notified in mid-April and the Award decision will be announced at the SWIU at the AUA Breakfast Meeting on May 17, 2020 in Washington DC.
  • Scholarship award will begin July 1, 2020.
